Marat Ezhov's main scientific interests are lipidology, pathophysiology of atherosclerosis, preventive cardiology, prognosis after myocardial revascularization.

Marat Ezhov was born in 1969 in the Sverdlovsk, former USSR. He received his MD degree from Russian State Medical University in Moscow in 1992. Dr. Ezhov has completed his residency and cardiology fellowship at the Government Medical Center in 1994. Since 1994 he has been working in the Atherosclerosis Department of Russian Cardiology Research Center where he has received his PhD and post-doctoral degrees. He also undertook post-graduate specialization in Endocrinology. He is a current member of the European Atherosclerosis Society and Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology.

Within the framework of his scientific activity he had performed clinical studies with a focus on lipoprotein(a) and apolipoprotein(a) phenotyping in patients with CHD, including long-term prospective data.

He has written more than 100 original manuscripts and meeting abstracts (including papers in Atherosclerosis, Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, European Journal of Radiology, Acta Cardiologica). His current research interests include the role of lipoproteins, inflammatory, thrombogenic and genetic factors in atherogenesis and evaluation of plaque vulnerability with invasive techniques (IVUS-VH, OCT) and searching for biochemical markers as a diagnostic tools for plaque rupture predicting.

Since 1997 he served as principal investigator, sub-investigator in multiple international clinical trials in lipidology and cardiology.

For about 10 years he was working as a medical officer in the International Organization for Migration (Medical Section, USA).

He had a long time experience as a consultant in the ambulance and critical care departments of Cardioscan Ltd (Moscow).

He is doing educational lecturing on the atherosclerosis and thrombosis topics for physicians from different Russian cities. He is an active participant in the Schools and Workshops on behalf of the Russian National Atherosclerosis Society.
